Real Time Watercolor Painting

I did it! I made a real time watercolor painting tutorial video. Just barely, though. My phone heated up after about 20 minutes of recording and started flipping out, literally! The screen would do this weird flipping open and shut thing at intervals which was so annoying. But I finished it anyway, if a little earlier than I thought.

For my painting, I chose an image of red berries on a leafless tree that you can see at pmp-art.com by clicking the link below.

If you look at the photo, you will see I took quite some liberty with the composition. I spaced out the berries and sketched out a mirrored image of it. I wanted the composition to go from left to right. My brain has trouble analyzing things in the other direction. But with just a few minor tweaks, I was able to throw this together and I’m feeling pretty proud of myself. Not for the master artwork, but for having the courage to show my process.

I was trying to decide how involved I wanted to get in painting a background for the berries, but my camera made that decision for me when it let me know it was tired of working. I like how the colors pop on white.

Watch the video below and let me know how you think I did!
